Have you managed to put together a seminar paper and now you have to present it in front of others? Do not underestimate the preparation and it will go by itself.

Preparing for a presentation is neither difficult nor demanding, but you should not underestimate it. If the speaker does not prepare properly, it seems to be on the forehead. Nervousness rises during the recitation and the presentation of the seminar turns into horror. Avoid unnecessary stress and prepare the best presentation. We will advise you on how to do it.

Before you start

First, find out the information you need. Perhaps the most important is the required length. This usually does not affect the number of slides but the duration. The length of presentation of seminar papers is often in the range of 5-10 minutes and almost everything will develop from it – number of slides, amount of information, difficulty of your speech.

The presentation requires a structure

Think about its structure before you write and think what your presentation should definitely be. He will tell you a lot in writing.

On the title page, give the title of your seminar work and your name.

The introduction of your presentation should draw the audience into the issue. Define the goal of your work and any hypotheses.

The theoretical part

In the theoretical part, analyze more information and familiarize your audience with your work.

Methodology and results

If you have done some research or investigation in your work, please indicate in this section which methods you have used and what you have reached. If your seminar is a search, imagine the methods and results of the studies from which you drew. Remember, you are only presenting facts in this section. Don’t try to evaluate.

In conclusion, briefly summarize your work, compare objectives and hypotheses with possible results. Try to suggest the next steps.

Used sources

Use literary sources in the footer of each slide or at the end of the presentation. Depends on you.

The most common mistakes of students during the presentation

1) Too long presentation

If the presentation is too long, the audience loses attention. Try the slide show, watch the time and adjust your speech to the desired length.

2) Swinging, squeezing pens and other restless movements

In stress, people behave differently. Find out what your bad habits are and try to eliminate them.

3) Silent, even frightened voice

In order to listen properly, the audience must first of all hear you. If you know you’re talking a little quiet, try training a louder speech. Alternatively, prepare a microphone, for example. It is important to speak also confidently. When you’re ready, you won’t be so much of a problem for you.

4) Fill sounds and words

Probably everybody knows this problem. In short, the “er” and “actually” are hard to forgive. Focus on yours and you will see that there will be at least a little less of the presentation.

5) Too much text

What is important is what matters most during the presentation. Do not try to fill the presentation with information. In a brief text, you are much more familiar, as is the audience, which is better positioned thanks to the clear indications in your presentation.

6) Typos and horrible coarseness

Making a final check of typos and roughs is not that difficult. Yet they often appear in student presentations. Much will tell you about it and it will definitely not be nice.

When you’re almost ready

Try the slide show multiple times. Talk to yourself first, then ask your friends, siblings, parents or classmates to listen to the presentation. You will receive valuable advice on how to improve your speech, and at the same time try out a presentation in similar conditions as they will be at school.

Observe time for all trials and tests. In stress, people speak either slower, stutter, or accelerate to get it as soon as possible. Find out what type you are and adjust to the length of your presentation.

4 hints at the end

Tip First: Prepare small note cards for each slide.
